About Dr. Lydia

Ancient wisdom. Modern skin.

Most people who sell skincare products have tried them. I've spent years studying what's actually happening beneath them.
I'm Dr. Lydia Au, DACM — a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. That's a clinical doctorate requiring thousands of hours of training in Eastern medicine, human physiology, and integrative health. My specialty is holistic dermatology and facial acupuncture, a practice rooted in the understanding that how your skin looks is inseparable from how your body functions. Circulation, hormonal balance, lymphatic flow, inflammation, stress — all of it shows up on your face. That's not a metaphor. That's medicine.
In my Orange County practice, I work with women whose skin has stopped responding to conventional products, topical routines, and one-size-fits-all advice. What I've found, again and again, is that the answer isn't a new serum. It's a different framework.
Traditional Chinese Medicine doesn't treat breakouts, puffiness, dullness, or premature aging as cosmetic problems. They're signals — the body communicating an internal imbalance. When I evaluate a product or tool, I bring that same clinical lens to it: does this support the skin's natural intelligence? Does it move Qi, reduce stagnation, calm inflammation, or restore the barrier — without burdening the body with synthetic chemicals or endocrine-disrupting ingredients?
That's the standard every item in this shop has been held to. Not trend. Not marketing. Not what's popular on social media. Just the question I ask in my treatment room every day: is this actually good for you?
If the answer isn't yes, it's not here.
This shop exists because my clients kept asking what I use — and why. Jade Vessel Apothecary is my answer: a curated collection of tools and skincare chosen through the eyes of a clinician who has spent her career helping women age with intention, not fear.
